A site for players and guests of the Eternal Campaign, an episodic and continuing Dungeons and Dragons role play game that began at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York, in 1982-83. This site primarily concerns itself with post-graduation play, dating from 1987.
Structure
This site is divided into three main parts, easily identifiable by Web page background color.
- Character Sheets (yellow backgrounds): Details on the characters, their abilities, possessions, and so on. Some info here is password-protected.
- Chronologies (pink backgrounds): Histories of the diverse adventures of the characters.
- Info and Miscellany (green backgrounds): Geography, cosmology, house rules, other party information.
There are also two smaller sections with limited access.
- Solo (gray backgrounds): private pages for individual adventuring.
- GM Only (white backgrounds): Game master specific information that may need to be shared.
Top-level pages have this hex-pattern background.
Navigation
The home page is a good starting point for browsing. The site map, accessible from every page, allows more narrow searching. The What's New page, accessible from both, lists recent changes. And extensive use of your browser's Back button is recommended.
Solo adventuring pages can only be accessed if the exact URL address or password is known. Contact Michael Moran Alterio if you need a solo address.
Editing
Currently, both Michaels have FTP access to the site and can make changes to Eternal Web pages. Other players may also have such access if they want to lend a hand in adding content and maintaining the site! Or just send html-coded pages, which can be looked over and uploaded. Steve sent in the UnderWorld page this way.
Here are a few conventions for adding or editing pages on the site:
- Keep background colors consistent within a section.
- Mention every page changed (or section, at least) on the What's New page.
- Note every major new or moved page (except solo pages) on the site map.
- Put the last-changed date and a link to the site map at the bottom in the style below.
