The Top
Current Location: With the Eternal Party (parked at DwarfHome Garage).
Description: A magical transport device, a ship that hovers and flies through air, water, and the vacuum of interplanetary space. The Top gets its name from its resemblance to the child's toy, except this device is nearly 68 feet high and tapers from 15 feet wide at its base to 70 feet wide as you go up.
Abrac has completely mastered its operation; Tim and Marvin have minimal proficiency in its steering and weapons. Darla, Nomad, and John Whorfin know how to manipilate doors and lights and are comfortable in its confines.
Here are many more details on the Top, including its contents.
2.5 Regeneration (Stasis) Tubes
Current Location: The Top.
Description: One of three magical cylindrical metal and glass rejuvenation / suspended animation devices, originally brought in the Top. The Tube weighs 150 pounds and is 8 feet high and 2.5 feet in diameter. It has a glass door attached, and the interior is padded comfortably. On the interior are controls for setting time in hours, days and years (maximum = 100 years), controls to open and lock the door, and buttons for healing and suspension of activity.
If a normal, healthy person is placed within and the Suspension button is pressed, a series of different color gases envelopes him: first red, then green and finally a white mist. He will fall asleep in 1-10 rounds and remain that way until the timer counts down to zero, at which point the same gases cycle out in reverse; white, green, red. Aging occurs at the rate of 1 day per year.
If a wounded person is placed within and the Heal button is activated, a different cycle of gases occurs: green, brown, blue. He will fall asleep (in 1-6 segments) and heal all wounds at the rate of 2-5 points/day +/- Constitution effects. He will also regenerate limbs in 1-4 months. If a time is not set and the regeneration process is initiated, the person will remain in the tube until fully healed. At the end of the healing process the gases will cycle; blue, brown, green.
During healing or suspended animation mode the doors will automatically lock from the inside.
If a fresh corpse (within 1 hour of death/level of character) is placed inside and the healing process is activated, the person will revive in 2-5 days for every hour (or fraction thereof) of death, and have 1 hit point -- if a successful ressurection roll is made. Afterwards he will need an additional day out of the Rejuv Tube for every hour of death. The character may not use the device for healing after ressurection; hit points must be regained naturally or by some other magical means.
If a poisoned victim, or one beyond the 1 hour/level of death (as stated above, for reviving dead individuals), is placed within, the Tube in Stasis mode will freeze that person in time until a more powerful way of reviving him is found. The Tube will not remove or neutralize the effects of the poison.
A problem may occur in the fact that poisoned victim once inside the Tube will not revive and therefore can not activate the lock mechanism on the door. This is a design flaw. A known time will have to be set for the particular individual.
If a Knock spell is used, the door will open and the gas cycles will be interrupted. A person in stasis mode will have to make a system shock roll to live and then will permanently loose 1 point of constitution. A person in healing mode will have to make two system shock rolls (both successful) in order to live and then will permanently loose 1 point of constitution.
Magical Telescope
Current Location: The Top.
Description: Located in the Top's Pad Toom is a tubular optical instrument for viewing distant objects by means of the refraction of light rays through lenses. Three such tubes are mounted within a metal and stone frame which allows change of ascent and the alteration of the angle of declination. The three tubes are joined as one, all pointing in the same direction and not capable of independent movement on the celestial sphere. They may be together moved by a series of hand turned gears. Each tube has a different length, diameter and magnification; x10, x75, x200. The huge platform that the telescope is mounted on has been altered and is now equip with four retractable wheels. This allows one to roll the device over to the Pad, retract and stow the wheels, and successfully teleport without accidental loss of any mass.
The telescope is quite bulky, but only weighs 200 pounds. Rough dimensions are 6 feet in diameter at the base and 8 feet high from base to topmost tube. The frame is composed of wrought iron and stone while the tubes are of copper and glass.
Magic Barge
Current Location: According to Nomad and Whorfin, it was never moved from its "temporary" storage place in some secluded and slow moving part of the river near New Avalon, sunk to the bottom.
Description: Here are details.
Flying Carpet
Current Location: Stolen by Desilus! Location unknown.
Description: The carpet measures 12 feet by 18 feet. It has a capacity for 6 people (and some gear) with a speed 18". It was found on the wall of Lord Kimbeut's home.
One single person can maintain control of the device for about 8 hours a day. After eight hours of control by one person, flight becomes first erratic and then impossible. Other drivers can take over, however. Thus, for 24-hour continuous flight, a minimum of three drivers in three shifts is required.
NOTE: Since this time, the Abrac has acquired a new flying carpet -- not a party item.
Scroll and Hardware for making a Pocket Universe
Current Location: Stored in Nomad's Pocket Universe (which was stolen by the Desilus).
Description: Tongs and Crucible of Melting and Scroll of Estate Transference.
Other Notes: The master magician who made Nomad's pocket universe used the crucible and tongs, we figured, to carry around the solid flame or essence of fire or whatever the heck it was he had to use to set up the pocket uni. The 9th level scroll does not have the material components built in. We can use the tongs and crucible to cast the spell for the Plane of Fire, if we wish, or we could get what we need and cast the spell for another plane (not fire).
Crazy Larry's Blessing Stone
Current Location: Steve says, "In the Pocket Universe, where Nomad allowed (okay, helped) Marvin to put it. Essentially, Nomad has no plans to touch the thing himself, and was waiting for Whorfin to get back and take it off his hands. Well, I guess that idea is shot, but it's still in the PU storage shed. Most likely Nomad will try to hold it for possible use against the "One Lord" he has heard rumors of. ;-)." (Note that the Pocket Universe was stolen by the Desilus)
Description: A flagstone with a set of footprints embedded in it.
Other Notes: According to the now-dead Whorfin, the Great Elf God once stood there. Later, a good person could stand in the spot and be Blessed (like the spell, duration delayed until the first round of combat). It did nothing for neutrals and cursed Pale God worshippers.
Power Compass
Current Location: Stored in Nomad's Pocket Universe (which was stolen by the Desilus).
Description: A device with a green gem inset.
Other Notes: Gem flashes when divine and unique powerful beings are near.
Planar Compass
Current Location: Stolen by Desilus! Location unknown.
Description: Looks similar to a compass with a needle.
Other Notes: Detects all active wormholes and inter-plane layer boundaries.
