Pre-Reunion 98 Activities

Researching the Copy Spell & A Trip Across the Sea

After removing the trolls and making friends with his neighbors below Bould Hill (the Cro-Magnon-Hobbits) Abrac has the following plans:

Find out when the next several trans-oceanic ships leaves for the old world (and the next several return as well). Book passage (using a false name [see below]) and obtain a small private cabin.

GM: No problem

Abrac needs for the ship to take him to the capital city of the empire. Will this get him the best deal for my magic items? Is there another location and if so what is it. Need a list names and places of magic item traders. Find out indirectly, discreetly and over time from the Mage Guild.

Contact Chifling and ask him if he has any special needs in the Empire. Tell him to keep quiet. Can he assist me on any level? Information, things he would like to trade/sell/obtain etc. Iíll use a couple of random (non-obvious) ESPs on him while interact just to make sure he is not a spy for the Empire. Abrac will not mention exactly when or how or where he is going.

GM: He's on the up and up. Chifling has business he could ask you to do for him, but you read that he does not want to mix business with friendship. He just asks that you return and tell him the stories of your journeys. He is friendly, but clearly in awe of your power. You read that he suspects you are much more powerful than you let on, but he is content to be discreet. You read that he would like to be your friend.

Create a new persona - Abrac wishes to put on the appearance of a trader, a dealer in minor magics. Adopt a fake, convincing proper colonial/imperial name. Quickly join the Adventurers Guild and Traders Guild and get the proper identification papers etc. My residence is the town of Shoal. When I reach the Empire, if people believe I'm a colonial yokel that is fine.

GM: The dwarf thing works fine.

Determine approximately how long the RESEARCHED spell COPY will take. If it looks as if Abrac can obtain the spell will a minimum of risk to complete failure (and restart) he'll start the research.

GM: Done and done. That's eternal day 545 to 565.

If after obtaining the spell there is additional time, spend it thusly:

Prelims for Bould Hill, and start.

Visit the cro-hobbits and start to slowly introduce them to the ways of Druids and Nature worship. Spend a few hours each day visiting them, healing their wounds, showing them various demonstrations of Abracís druidical power. Are there any candidates for apprenticeship [hell, even follower-ship] for either druid or mage [prob not on the later]? I understand that under normal circumstances Abrac would not get to do this but maybe because this is an unusual thing. Do this for several days. My idea is to possible have a (as well as the group) candidate elevated to and start worshipping Nature. This way one of their own can tend the flock... Maybe this druid could specialize in underworld nature? Are there any who are yet willing to leave the caves?

[Also, if the Eternals ever play out an adventure with their followers then perhaps I can run someone from here.]

GM: You begin this and pick out a couple candidates. But there's not much time before your ship leaves. Let's go back to this after the reunion.

Scrying for Angel and random places across the sea.

GM: For clairvoy, the *place* must be familiar or obvious. No scrying for people, just places. With reflecting pool you can look for *people* -- you try to see the angel and your 50-50 chance fails.

Secure the Top and go on the voyage. All animals will remain behind to deter intruders. Set up pad room to accept my emergency teleport in.

GM: okay

A week before leaving:

Inform the Eternals (by note) that I'll be out of town for a while (no specifics given). Iíll perform a weekly Clairvoyance in our secret Eternal location so if they need to contact me they can do it this way.

GM: Okay. Underlings and preparations take from day 565 to 575.

Secure most of my magic into the BOH. And NEVER have it leave my person.

GM: Okay

Cross ocean and use time copy to complete the duplicate volumes of all spell books. In addition do the following during the cross over:

Have a Oceanic spell set which includes previsions for a Daily surveillance of Top. Weekly check on Eternal and cromagnum hobbits. Teleport home always. Summon a different set of whales, a week at a time, to escort the ship.

GM: note: for the sake of the plot, the hand of the gm lies heavily on the following. If we had more time we could have played things out. As it is, I am forcing your hand somewhat.

You leave on day 575. On day 580, with the voyage barely underway, something strange happens. When you pray for your morning spells, you are given a spell you do not ask for: commune with nature.

You cast the spell. More strangeness is afoot, because instead of the usual nine mile diameter, the spell encompasses most of the continent!

Here is a rough sketch you make after your vision.

Your mind reels at the compass of the comprehension that the spell gives you! Your range for the spell is not miles but thousands of miles! And yet at the same time, you have the vision / understanding that the planet is also a vast and beautiful woman who is pregnant, dressed in green and blue. She is weeping, and her throat is torn out. Druidically speaking, you sense that a great harm has been done to Lothar.

Usually the spell provides info on one "fact" per level -- caves or unnatural monsters or water or whatever. This time only one "fact" is being sought. You do not know what that piece of info is. But whatever it is, it is missing from the entire world. You sense it no where.

The spell ends. You do not know what to make of it. You choose to continue on with your voyage.

You successfully create your second set of spell books. I assume you have already subtracted the cost required from your pc sheet -- if not, please do so.

As per your SOP, you do your standard clairvoyance checks all over. On day 607 you scry Marvin and Nomad in New Avo. You see Nom is weak and Marv is blue. On day 608, you scry something at Tim's. On the wall of the room you told him you would check weekly, Tim has written on the wall, "Abrac, here's a note for you!" There is an arrow pointing down to a table against the wall on which is a note. You can't read it because it is too far from the center point of your spell. You cast another Clairvoyance on day 609, and read the note.

It is written in Druidic, and it is from the Grand Druid himself! He requests that you and your friends come as soon as possible to a place where his messenger, the one who carried this message, will lead you. The messenger is a Mountain Person and monk named Jabirath-o-Namakazz.

The Grand Druid is calling a great Council to deal with the current crisis. He has the sense that magicians and warriors will be needed as well as priests, and you happen to be close at hand. You read between the lines and get the strong feeling that his need is urgent in the extreme.

On day 610 you blip back to the Top, talk to Darla, and leave notes for Nomad and Marvin. You also stash your new spell books and prepare to be away, maybe for a while. On day 611 you meet Nomad and Marvin and the Reunion begins.

[When you get to Shoal, Tim will tell you about the communications he has had.]
