Whorfin Dies

A calamitous event as experienced by the other Eternal characters

An Eternal Announcement of Colossal Proportions: An Addendum to the Eternal Party Timeline

Day 628 (Evening) - [Mike Alterio is GM, during his Quest of the Druidic Oracle adventure].

Marvin, Nomad, Abrac and Friend Kazz are on the large magic carpet crossing the ocean, somewhere near the southern continent.

Marvin, taking his turn, pilots this magical vehicle. The rug is low to the ocean's surface. Nomad sleeps. Abrac is in meditation trying to regain spells. Kazz is attempting a new technique by fishing off the back of the moving carpet.

Nomad Dreams

He sees Lord John Whorfin walking through a spirited elvish forest. Whorfin appears different; he has a shaved head, he is not wearing his armor and his staff is not with him. Whorfin's clothing glows in a pure white light. He travels with a white wolf and a white centaur. Whorfin holds a handful of loose paper notes and on his face appears the classic McChaotic grin.

Whorfin pace increases and he leaves his friends behind

He walks through this quiet place alone now. After a time he comes across a great wall-like object, an enormous black dome that stretches for miles in either direction.

Whorfin looks at this dome which is almost as dark as darkness itself. He discerns a slight, dark reflection. Whorfin smiles knowingly towards the reflection and then to no one in particular. Strangely, he is happy and content.

He steps into not the darkness but into a void.

Nomad is jolted to an awakened state with the feeling of an all too familiar Eternal pain. He cries out.

Marvin feels a wave of anguish. This makes him falter his control of the carpet momentarily. Luckily it comes to a floating halt.

Abrac is shocked with a mental burn and this breaks his study-state. A vocal curse escapes him.

Kazz turns around and asks what is happening, bewildered at the odd occurrences.

Though all three Eternals present have this knowledge. Abrac is the only one to speak it, and in a whisper, "Whorfin is dead."

[At the exact same time, Tim Zoltan, in the small town of Shoal receives a similar psychic message and understands its meaning all too well.]

For the next two long weeks (20 days) the Eternals are irritable, restless and disturbed. Despite all attempts that are used to scry or divine any information, NOTHING is learned. What is most disturbing is Abrac's inability to focus correctly upon a location for a teleport. The party has no choice except to press on with their current mission.

Day 649 (Morning)

The Eternal malady breaks. Abrac (always quoting the obvious at the worst times) mentions that there probably isn't a high enough cleric out there to bring Whorfin back now. The party continues with the current adventure.

Note: There exists a special link

The link makes Eternals conscious of the death of their kind. In past scenarios at the death of an Eternal there have been other Eternals present. The psychic link was not obvious because of the overshadowing emotional trauma of the normal senses. Seeing Zoltan's head fly off brought shock enough.
