Old Screeds

Welcome to a New WEMIC Site

A screen shot from the newly launched WEMIC site.

Please paws, my friends, and welcome a brand-new WEMIC site, launched October 1, 2026. I am always happy to see anyone with an interest in this topic, and kudos to this non-profit's efforts to promote energy reliability and affordablity. The heart of our interest is surely the positive characteristics of our favorite study, and a more powerful and reliable source of energy I cannot imagine. As for affordability, it is well-known that wemics are often found on the fringes of "civilized" societies, where even a copper piece can go a long way.

On the new site home page, the call for advocacy is clear — the site operates for an independent nonprofit organization advocating for a competitive, regional market. Trade is often the lifeblood of people who wander as nomads in the untamed places of the world, so this WEMIC market mission is one that I fully support.

The new WEMIC site currently hosts just two screeds, unlike the hundreds on my own humble site, but that makes no nevermind comparing a site that is eight days old versus one that has been going since July 6, 1999. The first WEMIC screed advocates that it is "important to have an impartial trading platform." That makes perfect sense, since wemics often trade during wet seasons when mud and damp can be a problem. A market on a raised platform can avoid those problems, helping keep trade goods such as furs and cloth away from the muck. And impartiality is important when clans clash, allowing trade in neutral territory.

The second screed is a bit more opaque to conventional wemic sensibilities, but it seems to advocate for a council of merchants who are independent and represent interests from all regions, not just a single powerful one. Which seems reasonable. When wemics meet for palaver, even the lesser clans are heard in the meeting circle, no less than the great and powerful.

We here at Cayzle's Wemic Site welcome WEMIC, especially given the clever way they used the initials of the word "wemic" to define their group, the "Western Energy Markets Integrity Council." My one point of positive feedback: I wish they had used more images of actual wemics on the website.
