A few notes on the Valley of the Great River

The activities of the Eternal Party since arriving on this planet have centered on the regions close by the valley of the Great River in the northeast of the continent of Anhktosl.

This area, and generally speaking, the entire planet, is water and jungle with very few exceptions. There is even jungle in the far North, beyond the mountains. There are more temperate forest in the foothills of the mountains where it is cooler because of the elevation. In this cooler terrain the Mountain Peoples established their empire centuries ago.

Aside from the influence of the Old Empire across the ocean, the Party has not found much in the way of traditional ''civilization'' in this area. Old Empire influence can be most clearly seen in New Avalon, Shoal, and Edheldor.

A few notes on travel rates

The Top's max speed in air is 24"/round (8.2 mi/hr, that is, 200 mi/day flying around the clock). In water the Top moves at 12"/round, and in space, 32"/round (impulse - 10.9 mi/hr, (4.876 m/s©s, .49 g)).

The Friendly Giant's Cloud travelled at 12"/round (4.1 mi/hr, 100 mi/day flying around the clock). Since it took us 18 days to fly the Cloud to Albany from Avalon, the trip covered 1,800 miles.

Some party history

We landed on the Giant's Cloud when it was at about G10 on the map above. That's where the Cloud's anchor was ripping up the foliage and pissing off the treants and druids. That was the first day of the first month of the 750th Year of the Empire of The One Pale God. In other words, New Year's Day. This was also the 50th aniversary of the landing of the second colony upon the Continent of Anhktosl.

By the time we got back from the Abyss, the Cloud had drifted to about I8, within sight of the river and about four days travel by cloud north of Avalon.
